MedStream

Teleconsultation · New: video

Your doctor, on video, inside your hospital software.

Patients book and pay on your own page, join a one-to-one video call from a link, no app, and leave with the prescription. The booking, the call and the prescription all live on the same patient record as your OPD.

For the patient

What the patient sees, from link to prescription

  1. 01Open the link

After booking and paying by UPI on your page, the patient gets a private join link. It opens in the phone browser with a quick camera and microphone check. No app, no account.

  2. 02Wait in the waiting room

If they are early, a calm screen shows their appointment time and keeps them informed, including a message if the doctor is running late.

  3. 03See the doctor

A one-to-one video call with the doctor, with large buttons for mute, camera, speaker and leave, and an audio-only mode if the connection is weak.

  4. 04Leave with the prescription

After the call the patient can receive a summary on WhatsApp: the prescription PDF, a button to book the follow-up and a short rating.

For the doctor and the desk

A call list that knows who is waiting

app.yourhospital.in/teleconsultations

Today’s list: the patient who has opened their link shows as waiting.

app.yourhospital.in/teleconsultations/call

On the call: the patient’s video, the doctor’s blurred room, and the prescription alongside.

Today's list, with who is waiting

Teleconsultations in slot order, and a “Waiting” mark the moment a patient opens their link, so the doctor knows who is already in the room.

Prescription beside the video

The ordinary MedStream prescription opens next to the call and is saved against that teleconsultation, so it sits in the patient's record like any other.

Running late? The patient is told

A patient who joins early sees a waiting screen, and a “running late” message if the doctor is held up, not a frozen page.

Share, revoke, complete

Copy or WhatsApp the patient's link, revoke it if it was sent to the wrong number, end the call for both sides and mark the consultation complete.

Built for Indian connections

A call that holds up on a phone

Most patients join from a phone, often on mobile data. The call is designed for that.

  • Camera and microphone check before joining
  • Background blur for the doctor's room
  • Audio-only mode, offered when the connection is weak
  • Clear messages when a call reconnects or a device fails
  • Call timer and signal strength on screen
  • Large, phone-sized buttons for patients

Control and privacy

Your patients, your server, your receipts

The video runs on your own server

Calls go through a self-hosted video server, not a third-party meeting service. The hospital software only issues short-lived permissions to join and records when the call started, ended and how long both sides were connected.

Links that can't be passed around

Each booking gets its own signed link that opens only around the slot time, can be revoked, and, if you choose, opens only after the payment has been verified.

Kept apart from the OPD

Teleconsultation bookings, money and receipts stay on their own worklist, collection report and receipt series, never mixed into the OPD register or the day's counter cash.

Questions

What clinics ask about teleconsultation

Does the patient need to install an app?

No. The patient books on a web page on your hospital's own domain and joins the video call from a link in the phone's browser. There is no app and no account; a new patient verifies their mobile number with a WhatsApp OTP.

Is it a one-to-one call?

Yes, one doctor and one patient per call, joined through that booking's own link. The doctor can end the call for both sides and mark the consultation complete.

How does the patient pay?

By UPI on the booking page, your UPI ID and QR code are shown at the payment step, with the fee you set. The desk verifies the payment and a receipt is issued on the teleconsultation's own receipt series. You can require a verified payment before the join link opens.

What if the patient's internet is weak?

The call offers an audio-only mode when the connection is poor, shows when it is reconnecting, and explains why a call dropped. The doctor can also simply phone the patient from the call list, as before.

Where does the video go?

Through a self-hosted video server rather than a third-party meeting service. The hospital software doesn't relay the video itself; it decides who may join which call and records the call's start, end and duration.

Is teleconsultation included in MedStream?

It is an add-on, switched on per hospital, with video as part of it. The written quote lists it like any other module.

In short

  • MedStream teleconsultation is a one-to-one doctor–patient video call inside the hospital software, with the booking, payment and prescription on the same patient record.
  • Patients book on the hospital's own page, verify by WhatsApp OTP, pay by UPI and join from a link in the browser, no app.
  • The doctor writes the prescription beside the video; the patient can get an after-call WhatsApp summary with the prescription PDF and a follow-up button.
  • Calls run through a self-hosted video server, and each booking's join link is signed, time-limited and revocable.
